Pirate Race Productions excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a Women’s Cyclocross Clinic on Saturday October 16 at the Boone Fairgrounds.

Pro Racer Alison Powers will be joined by some of the top female ‘cross racers from North Carolina Cyclocross and MSG Cyclocross to help you get ready to race. Lunch will be provided courtesy of Black Cat Burritos, and early registration is only $35.

Whether you are a raw beginner or a seasoned vet, this clinic will teach you the skills and confidence you need to have a great year of racing in a fun, supportive, women’s only setting. Space is limited, and there will be NO on-site registration, so sign up now!

Thanks to everyone for coming out and helping us break in the new course at the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway. We really appreciate all your feedback and patience – considerably more of the course will be taped and flagged this week, and the folks at NWS will be mowing the grass down. Thanks to our new sponsor Talia Espresso – located around the corner from NWS at 809 Main Street North Wilkesboro, they offer gourmet coffees from Durham’s Counter Culture as well as a fresh and diverse seasonal menu.

Results are posted here and on USAC, and we have compiled season standings, scoring 20 deep in both races. We are working on some end-of-season prizes.

Please note that as a “non-competitive training series” you are free to participate in either the 30 minutes “Bs” at 6:30 or the 45 minute “As” at 7:00 as you see fit. Want to do both? $20 and you can. However, for those of you that are serious ringers, please be extremely courteous if you start lapping other Bs so the novices do not feel like they are getting run off the course.

Finally, for those of your prepping for the Boone races in October – I did a recon at the Boone Fairgrounds today while christening my new Guerciotti Libra Cross and the new management has really dried the place out and is keeping the grass nice and short.

HCCX is growing and here is our new website. This year we will offer an eight-week series, every Wednesday night from September 8 to October 27.

For the month of September we will be racing at the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway, offering a Roubaix World Cup-style course that will start and finish on the track, with infield barriers on the Tractor Pull strip, followed by lots of technical riding in the grass outside the stadium, before a quick set of stairs bringing you back in the building and onto the track.

In October we will be back under the lights at the Boone Fairgrounds, on a flat and fast course featuring the infamous Tiki Torch Run Up, lots of tight corners, and usually one muddy section.

Finally, mark your calendars for January 16, the day after UCI Kingsport, when we will be hosting the second-to-last NCCX Series Race back at the Speedway.

Of course, don’t forget about our pre-season suffer fest, Three Peaks USA at Beech Mountain on September 25.
